Mentor Coordinator Report

Stories & Quotes To Share:

SO GOOD TO BE BACK TOGETHER
A continuing high school mentee was extremely eager to begin meeting again with her mentor. She came by the first, second and third day of school. I soon realized this would be a daily check-in for an update on when her mentor would be able to come in. The two finally(!) met again in early September for the first time this school year. The mentor was just as eager to reconnect. The mentor said she was very encouraged by her first meet up with her mentee after summer break. She said that while the big issues in her dysfunctional home life are still there, her mentee remains plucky and is able to articulate her frustrations well. The mentor says that ‘sometimes I just have to laugh with her about some of the things she puts up with, although we both know they aren’t truly humorous. She got to spend weeks in Montana without her parents or siblings, and she really lit up talking about the outdoor activities’. (I saw the mentee sharing her photos). The mentor left her with a positive message and urged her to occasionally close her eyes and revisit those moments in the beautiful Montana outdoors.

A PRINCESS FOR A DAY
One of our mentees, a spunky, sweet, freshman soccer player let her mentor know that she was chosen as a Homecoming Princess. Our mentee is excited to have some of her upperclassmen soccer buddies help her prep for the big night! She’s jumping into this school year with confidence and joy… and her mentor is loving seeing the positive changes and sheer joy coming from her mentee in her first few weeks in high school.
