Mentor Coordinator Report
Stories & Quotes To Share:
One of our mentees stopped by to ask when she was going to see her mentor next. I showed her the new white board that displayed the meetings for the week and then I asked what was her favorite thing about meeting with her. She said, “she is easy to talk to and I love talking with her about anything.”
Highlights:
October was a LONG month. We started off the month with Homecoming festivities. Kicking off the week with a Coronation Assembly. That same week we had a 2/12 hour evacuation on Thursday and a lock down on Friday. Those two events really made a lot of students and staff anxious. When mentors met with their students the following week it was a great opportunity for our students to process the events with someone. I really appreciated the mentors for stepping up and helping their students. I also saw some of our mentees help others deal with their anxiety over these situations.
Michele brought in pumpkins and also made a September Reflection worksheet for our matches to spend time on. These activities were fun and created some great conversations for our matches. I made folders for each of the students that filled out the Reflection sheet and will continue to add to it each month. It will be a nice end of the year “gift” for the student to take home. Excited to see what we do in November.
